Neil Young News Conference with Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai on GMOs
Legendary rocker, Neil Young held a press conference in Vermont as a part of his concert tour with Peter Shumlin, Governor of Vermont and Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai. He invited Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai to address the press conference on his study of how GMOs increase production of formaldehyde, which is a known carcinogen, in plants.
It Turns Out That GMOs May Pose Some Pretty Serious Health Risks
Genetically modified organisms are becoming a bigger and bigger part of our lives, whether we like it or not. Altering a plant’s genetic structure can increase production yields by making crops more disease-resistant and weather-tolerant, translating into big paydays for major agrobusinesses. As a result, more than 75% of processed foods on American shelves contain genetically modified ingredients.
Do GM Soybean Plants Accumulate Formaldehyde?
The notion of the substantial equivalence of GM glyphosate-tolerant soy plants with their non-GM parents has come under renewed challenge in a peer-reviewed paper. In this case, the difference is not the glyphosate residues in the GM soy but the disruptions to biochemical pathways caused by the genetic engineering process.
New US Soy Study Invalidates FDA ‘Substantial Equivalence’ Regulations on GMOs
A new study published today in the peer-reviewed journal Agricultural Sciences reveals genetic engineering of soy disrupts the plant’s natural ability to control stress, and invalidates the FDA’s current regulatory framework of “substantial equivalence” used for approval of genetically engineered food (GMOs).
Systems Biology Group, International Center for Integrative Systems: GMO Soy Accumulates Formaldehyde & Disrupts Plant Metabolism, Suggests Peer-Reviewed Study, Calling For 21st Century Safety Standards
WASHINGTON, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — A new study published today in the peer-reviewed journal AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES reveals genetic engineering of soy disrupts the plant’s natural ability to control stress, and invalidates the FDA’s current regulatory framework of “substantial equivalence” used for approval of genetically engineered food (GMOs).
Third Paper of Series on Modeling Critical Molecular Pathways and C1 Metabolism in Plants, by the Center’s Research Team Published in American Journal of Plant Sciences
The third paper in a series of papers on Modeling Critical Molecular Pathways and C1 Metabolism in Plants written by the Center’s researchers was released by the American Journal of Plant Sciences, Vol.6 No.9, June 2015. The paper entitled Integrative Modeling of Oxidative Stress and C1 Metabolism Reveals Upregulation of Formaldehyde and Downregulation of Glutathione is arguably the first integrative model of oxidative stress and C1 metabolism in plants.
Second Paper, in a Path-Breaking Series, by the Center’s Research Team Published in American Journal of Plant Sciences!
The second paper in a path-breaking series by the Center’s researchers was released by the American Journal of Plant Sciences, Vol.6 No.9, June 2015. The paper entitled In Silico Modeling of C1 Metabolism. proves that C1 metabolism is essential for all organisms to provide one-carbon units for methylation and other types of modifications, as well as for nucleic acid, amino acid, and other biomolecule syntheses.
Paper on Discovery of Key Molecular Pathways of C1 Metabolism Released
Dr. V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai and his team of researchers at the Center have discovered Key Molecular Pathways of C1 Metabolism and Formaldehyde Detoxification in Maize through a Systematic Bioinformatics Literature Review. The team studies thousands of research papers and did countless simulations to achieve this remarkable feat. The paper on this has been published in Journal of Agricultural Sciences, Vol.6 No.5, May 2015.
Journal Paper Validates the Systems Science of Siddha & Ayurveda
A breakthrough paper that conclusively validates the scientific foundation of Ayurveda and Siddha, based on modern control systems engineering, has been published in the International Journal of Systems of Systems Engineering (IJSSE), an eminent peer-reviewed international systems engineering journal. The paper entitled The Control Systems Engineering Foundation of Traditional Indian Medicine: The Rosetta Stone for Siddha and Ayurveda, is accessible in Open Access format from Inderscience Publishers.
